Announcing the DAOS Foundation: Open Source Storage Innovation

Today marks a significant milestone in the evolution of distributed storage with the launch of the DAOS Foundation. This initiative represents our commitment to open source innovation and community-driven development.

Featuring broad support from founding members Argonne National Laboratory, Enakta Labs, Google Cloud, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, and Intel, the DAOS Foundation has been established under the Linux Foundation to advance the governance and development of the Distributed Asynchronous Object Storage (DAOS) project.

Mission and Vision

The DAOS Foundation is dedicated to:

DAOS is a high-performance open source storage system that has redefined performance for a wide spectrum of HPC and AI workloads. It achieves this through a fully distributed key-value storage architecture that eliminates the data and metadata bottlenecks commonly found in traditional POSIX-based HPC storage systems.

What the Founding Members Are Saying

Enakta Labs takes great pride in its role as a founding member of the DAOS Foundation. We consider it a privilege to actively contribute and collaborate with the open source community in advancing next-generation storage technology. DAOS serves as the foundation for the Enakta Storage Platform, and we are excited to introduce this cutting-edge, high-performance storage system to the market.

Community Involvement

We invite developers, researchers, and organisations to join us in this exciting journey. Whether you're interested in contributing code, documentation, or simply deploying DAOS in your environment, there's a place for you in our community.

Together, we're building the future of distributed storage.
